Dark Chocolate

FB allows you to see many wonderful photos taken by so many photographers, amateur and professional, simply because some folks are friends of FB friends. It is another matter that so many of your friends on FB are folks you have never met , but you actually think you know, from seeing and following their work , in albums, blogs etc.

This is a wonderful sunset photo from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, clicked by Kiran Mohan , who is actually a friend of a friend, Joshi Daniel  (who has figured earlier on this poetry blog)  but is also now my friend  :-))

This week has been one for writing about cakes and poetry . Like here.

Now one more ......

Molten beach waves
pulled by thick sand,
mixed
richly with
seashells and secrets
and sometimes
some unwanted additives,
baking slowly
on a hot day
slowly getting
browned
on a chocolate evening
under a
subsiding point filament Sun....

Soon the
baked sea
will leave the sides of the beach,
and sit back
leaving
unpaired footwear,
and coconut shells
strewn
where it once was.....

A turn for the better ....

Lakshmi Sharath , whose travel articles are published by some of India's leading Southern newspapers , has a wonderful photoblog, and she also posts great photographs of her travels on FB.

This was one , early one morning, at the famous Marina Beach in Chennai; a commentary on urban lifestyles of a large population, withing small spaces , making this couple the focus of this photo, (and not the sand.....)

Away
from crowded
piercing
berating gazes,
independence day happens
as
they walk across
the wave-dimpled sands,
and watch
as a garbage
four wheel drive
screeches by
leaving in its tracks
its deletable presence.

Life
seems to have just
taken a turn...
for now,
it's just
him, her,
and the backpack
as they watch
the ebbing tide
and hope
that
it comes rushing
back soon,
to wipe out
all obstacles
in their lives....

Golden memories

Scribbler stood Wordless on a Wednesday in Ganpatipule on the beach.

I had to write, once in Marathi and then in English.

ती परत निघते ;
अग, डोळे पूस ,
उदय आणि अस्त
हे होतच राहणार,
पण
ह्या समुद्रावर आलेल्या तेजा समान
कुणा एकाच्या
आयुष्याचं
अगदी सोनं झला ग….

Bidding goodbye
to a life,
the ashes strewn
into the
ebbing ocean waves,
her mind
is loaded
like wet sand
where memories
like crabs
make inroads
and
house themselves
snugly.....

A cold cutting breeze
in the light
of a setting sun,
and
and
she wraps
her sari
around her shoulders,
and turns to leave.

Don't weep, child,
for in every life
there is a rising
and a setting,
and the golden glow
of that wonderful life
was
no different
than this
golden panorama
that enhances
this ocean....
