My blogfriend Shail Mohan, besides being a a wonderful and perceptive blogger, poet, is also an excellent photographer.
She posted this mouthwatering photograph on her photoblog, Shots and Captures.
Sometimes the urge to grab a handful (of peanuts, that is ) results in a poem ....#just sayng :-)

Brides
in wedding vermillion,
spiced
with
fine tasteful jewellery,
crowded together
at the venue…
Fewer fertile fields,
the obsession with the male crop,
fewer girls,
and the
popping corns
crowd around
the swayamwara premises,
packed in sections,
so turmerically wedding-ready…..
The brides,
keep an open mind,
and enjoy all;
children’s pockets,
little fists,
with older folks ,flowing with beer ,
sitting in newspaper wraps
on trains and buses…
just everywhere.
The popped fellows,
constrained
behind the restrictive
plastic wraps,
sometimes buttered in flattery,
huddle together,
wondering
how
the sex ratio
got so skewed…….

:) What an analogy.
ReplyDeleteI had something with corn this morning for breakfast.
Isnt it true that peanuts are nutritionally more gifted than corn ? More valued? With even nature pointing this out so-in-your-face, society never learns ? Ah, I just saw on FB what you had for Breakfast :-)

ReplyDeleteof the plunder
of femininity
is a blunder;
Its right there
in everyone's sight
in broad
daylight.
After a childhood

protected by a shell,
now occasionally delicately steamed and salted,
she is still subject
to
piquant besan slathers
and immersions in boiling oil,
just because the "corny" types like it that way
with irresponsible swigs
of alcohol?
Relax Suranga, its genetically inbuilt -and here I am talking of wooing the other sex. Even men have started lathering up goo in pursuit of women.
