Smart Cleaning and Dreaming...

Some things in the world
never change.

Stomping in a puddle
on your way home
from school;

Wiping
a muddy
sweaty face
on the sleeve
of your white uniform shirt;

Leaning over to
steal kababs
from someone's tiffin
at lunchtime
oblivious
to a tie dipping in sambaar;

A leaky ink pen
clipped on your shirt pocket,
creating a rangoli in blue...

A ketchup tube
held the wrong way
and squeezed
in enthusiasm
and dribbles in red.

And layers of mud
of every
hue and color
on socks and pant bottoms.

An endless
house laundry
scrubbing,
boiling, rubbing,
soaking.

Today,
a cursory look,
and a bit of a soak,
a rub here and there
and
they all
enter a machine tub
for a comprehensive
dressing down
with Surf Excelmatic
foaming
in anger and disgust,
while to one side,
I cook,
read,
sleep,,
talk on the phone,
exercise,
and sometimes
even do nothing.

It's like ,
I got two hours extra,
maybe ,
to think
whether
I can get together
all the bad words,
regrets,
abuse,
sorrow,
troubles,
and worries
of the world,
and
put them too,
in a  mental tub
where they will whirl
amidst
carefree foam,
and  clean soap,
and emerge
into a happy wonderful day,
once again.....

Formal Brilliance

I have never understood why formal means black , white, and western.

A switch in geography , whether for academic reasons or culinary reasons, makes things exciting.

A young friend, who has entered the hallowed portals of a very highly regarded business school in Hyderabad, after a willful carefree and wonderful corporate tenure in the world's 3rd most expensive city , possibly got encouraged and inspired by the peacocks on their campus, when a student photo shoot had 569 other folks in western monochrome outfits, pretending to look formal.

The peacock must have been (formally) thrilled with her peacock-ink- blue sari ....:-)

Great company for the National Bird ....

She hangs out
gracefully,
on the sill
of the balcony,
cooling it
amidst the green;

Never knew
that
the gardens
at this business school
would make
learning and flitting
through the various subjects,
though clearly
bookish and coatish,
such a pleasure....

And it's more so,
when she notices,
another peahen,
dressed
in similar
blue colors
flowing around her ankles,
running circles
on those sweeping staircases
around all those
formally dressed
king-of-the-business-jungle
types,
in boring
blacks and greys....
