Small steps into Spring....

(photograph by nupur phatak)

A mind,
clouded with worry,
the biting wind
quietly
whirling around,
she,
deep in her memories
looks
forlornly
at the bareness of it all.

A moment
later,
looking up,
she shivers
in excitement,
touched
by a golden ray of Hope;
Another day,
another Sun,
another celebration,
Life is warm sunlight
on an icy peak

A promise,
to the tree,
that very soon,
it will be,
spring,
and green,
a time of birth,
again.

Wrapping it all up....

My friend Sylvia, does a photo blog, and once, every so many days, she does an Alphabet thing, where you show photos of stuff beginning with a particular alphabet. She did "F" for Fish Tacos.

The ensuing visuals , with all that cilantro and what I thought, was hot green habanero sauce waiting to be slathered on, inspired this , in me , a vegetarian:

The two
on the outside
so wrapped up
in themselves;

Shredded peppers
carrot slivers
streaks of onion
falling over each other
in delight
all whispering and gossiping
nestled amidst
cilantroed fish,
emerging from
a lashing of sauce.......

The middle one,
a bit older,
shrugs,
shoulder wide open.
The peppers
and onions,
and carrots,
wait;
Patience !
Life is more spicy
when enjoyed with
a green sauce
and a squeeze
of lemon...

Rocking in the Sun

Snuggled around,
fluidly blanketed,
smoothed
and water eroded
they lie
protected.
Amidst some weeds,
and possible
hiding fish,
safe, and away
from the cares
of a world.

But for some
it's about learning
how to live
when
the ebbing starts;
waves
touching and shying away,
leaving you
and yours,
however young and green,
to face bravely,
a drying, pleasant,
yet warm,
sometimes comforting,
morning Sun.

Thundering Social Resposnsibility

New high-flying concepts based on old things.

The
white haired seniors
tagging behind
the cool yuppies
dark with intent,
a few blondes
to the side;

The seniors
need to push,
the yuppies,
dense with
condensed thoughts,
crowded in lethargy.

And as they wander
high above the earth
watching
the going ons below,
a senior spies
a few parched lands,
gives some yuppies
a push,
to say,
"Corporate Social Responsibilty
means,
becoming Rain
for those that
look up to you,
parched and arrid....."

They rumble,
and grumble,
but
then again,
there's a flash
of realization,
and they
pour down in torrents....

Trials, Tribulations and Success

Torrents of misfortune,
gushing troubles,
as the little shoot
emerging amidst
the slush on earth
struggles
to remain
in the reckoning.

Sometimes transplanted,
flowing with
destiny,
it faces
life with a smile,
the shoot now a
young tree.

Powering its leaves,
nurturing fruits,
a haven
for nesting birds
and climbing children
arms outstretched,
she thanks the
One Up There
for this wonderful land.

Bent by storms,
Swirled by winds,
Feet
sometimes
swayed by currents,
strong
enough to doubt...

A tough and troubled
time
faced with a
thought,
not of the fruit,
but of growth;
Today,
a spring morning,
no blues of mind,
she clutches
the green around her,
and blooms
happily with her flowers,
now a
Successful Tree of the World!

Morning Invocation

Solilo

Bharatnatyam practice
in a hall
still wet with
the early cleaning;
They stand
dry and tired,
practicing mudras,
sarees
tucked at the waist,
and then
a few steps,
all in line,
hands raised,
as they invoke
Someone Up There.

The actual day,
some moons later,
will see
silks in green,
and red,
and brown,
and yellow…

The Performance
of Spring,
applauded by the hills,
as they dance
in Unison
eyes shining
hands uplifted,
holding the
Leaves of Life….

Shining Silver

Inspired by the recent heavy snowfall in Washington DC......

Photos by Sujatha of Blogpourri
The kindergaarten
of the East
is awash with
kids
going beserk
doing art in silver streaks,
little pieces
tinkling
across the trees,
winking up at the
teacher,
Mrs Sun.

She appears
occasionally,
beaming
mildly,
at their work,
amazed herself
at the vastness
of the white.

But patience
is a virtue,
one must wait,
and so she smiles
indulgently
at the kids
and the trees
laden with silver....

She will come out
later,
gradually,
a bit more strict
and strong,
making the kindergaarten
green and red
and yellow,
and spring....
once again..

Seeing the light.......

She sits
by the window,
lost in
the memories
of life as a little girl
who played
thieves and robbers
with her brother....

Some other
thieves and robbers
have today
stolen
her future,
as she sits,
swaddled
head to toe
in black,
a veiled life.

The eyes dart
sensing
a sliver of light
as
she rubs her eyes
darkly enclosed....
No one is around,
just she herself
and
a dark, cloudy
sympathetic sky.

Quiet,
into the night,
the clouds smile and part,
the moon beckons,
swimming in an ocean
of grey;
She lifts the veil
slightly ,
smiles, and
feasts her eyes
on the stars;
Life must change,
for
she has seen
the guiding light
in a dark sky........
