Green and Lovely

No,  this isn't a complexion cream by Unilever, designed for plants.....

You never know what might inspire someone to click. Like this collection of fruits , guavas and oranges,  in Bengaluru, displaying the same color, but different attitudes, if one might call them that.

Much like folks one sees around us. Clearly emphasizing, that outer color does not give you any superior properties in life . It is what is inside that counts.

Blog reader Ganesh Balaraman posted this photo on facebook.

Nature
has the last laugh;

Smooth semi translucent
hydrated skin
with an occasional beautyspot,
shapely lines
efforts at being
perfectly rounded,
and a sharp cut
reveals
the colorless stuff inside....

And some really
pockmarked,

thick,
occasionally tough
green skin,
sometimes
puffed a bit,
in an effort
at avoiding
a bright orange aging;
and you
gently peel its layer,
to see
some juicy
orange little ones
crowding together,
held by threads
in white...

Its all about the
Juice of Life....

"Looking" to start something.....

Blogger friend, Lakshmi Sharath, a well known media consultant, photographer, travel writer and columnist for several newspapers and magazines, is an avid birder as well. She ventured one evening, into the Thattekadu jungles near Kochi, which lies in Kerala, India's southern most state, for a date with the bird population there.

Among others, to look for Sri lankan frogmouths, a set of birds, that manage to camouflage themselves so well, that they sometimes look like the branches themselves. Do read about her wonderful birding trip, at Thattekadu, India : My date with the birds.

One gets a bit intimidated by the no-nonsense look of these birds, and it just reminded me of someone else........

They sit,
seamlessly blending
with the world around them.

Wordlessly commenting
staring
at the mess
we have become....

Abusing the
rules of the jungle,
but made of concrete,
Ravaging of the earth
for ore,
at the cost
of green,
and
despite
the grand colors
of rich birds flying around,
flitting loyalties,
these two
sit ,
holding on,
on what many think
is a shaky branch,
but is really,
supported,
by those
who want the old jungles back.

Call them whatever,
call them frogmouths,
that look,
is pure Anna H!

Where looks can kill.....

Blogger friend Joshi Daniel, has a very versatile, widely applauded photo blog, Joshi Daniel Photography , where he posts his creations in a very diverse range of categories. As he says , "People photography is where my passion is because faces and stories behind them, life styles, various cultures and traditions fascinates me......".

Winner of numerous awards, such as Nat Geo Moment Awards 2011, 2010 Photoblog Awards, Smithsonian magazine’s 7th annual photo contest, Nikon-Better Photography Photographer of the Year 2009 Awards, Vodafone presents India 9-5 Contest, he has also exhibited some of his work, at the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival 2011, held in Mumbai under the theme ‘Faces’.

He recently posted this photo. Of a practitioner of the Kalaripayattu, one of the oldest fighting systems , a martial art practiced in and native to, Kerala, India.

Mr Joshi Daniel has kindly permitted me to display it here.

He calls it "Back from the Dead". Shudder .

That piercing gaze had these words tumbling out.....

(photo : Joshi Daniel photography)

Drenched
in the showers
of power,
drunk
on the perceived
inevitability
of his victory,
fueled by a raging anger,
he smashed the door,
expecting
to see her cower
in a corner….

And then,
(unlike
the Mumbai storm water drains),
the bravado
drained him,
spiralling
down into his ankles,
weak in fear.

Facing him,
was
The big
glistening
eye of God,
in the middle
of
two piercing slits
powered by their own
pupils,
preparing for a strike.
